Diethyl Ether (Matt Lieberman)

Ethanol reacts with phosphorus tribromide to create ethyl bromide. Ethyl bromide can then react with more ethanol to create diethyl ether. Byproducts of the reaction are water and an increase of the acidity of the solution.

Williamson Ether Synthesis (Alyssa Radakovich)

A reaction of a methoxy group with butyl bromide forms methoxy butane.

Mitsunobu Reaction - Steven Sharpe

Triphenylphosphine and DEAD react with the OH on the alcohol. The ETOH substitutes for the new compound, forming the ether.

2-(2-formylphenoxy)acetic acid (Abena Afari).

A reaction of 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde with 2-chloroacetic acid and sodium hydroxide in the presence of heat to form 2-(2-formylphenoxy)acetic acid.
